Based on the WGI report, our anti-corruption efforts are clearly moving. But the movement is backward.
We can not deny that our country’s biggest problem is corruption. The government must exert further efforts on solving this problem, especially now that the country is financially-strapped and our people embroiled in poverty.
We can not let our limited resources be put to waste because of graft and corruption in government. While government is exerting efforts to combat this perennial problem, this is apparently not enough. We must show our sincerity and produce concrete results.
Part of the problem is the public’s perception on corruption. It is not to say that the perception is worse than the problem, but because of politicking, perception worsens.
This, government and its leaders must also address.
